We will start by cooking our black beans. Soak them for at least 8 hours before boiling them. Drain excess water and dry them. Alternatively, you can use canned black beans. Ensure you dry them properly.

Prepare black bean puree by blending the black beans In a food process. Add water to adjust the consistency.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the black bean puree, corn masa, vegetable oil, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin powder if using. Mix well to form a dough.

Divide your black bean dough. Place it between two parchment papers and roll until thin. Using a knife or a chip cutter, cut the rolled dough into chip-sized pieces.

Heat your oil in a thick pan to 175°C. Put a few chips rolls into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd them. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Remove them from oil and place in paper towels. Drain excess oil and season with salt. Pair the black bean tortillas with your favorite salsa, guacamole, or dip.

Instructions

Heat the Oil:

Fry the Chips:
