Tips & Tricks

Choosing the Best Arrowroot Tubers

To make the best arrowroot chips, start by selecting fresh, firm arrowroot tubers. Look for those that are free from blemishes and feel heavy for their size. This ensures you have the best base for your chips.

Preparation and Slicing

Wash the arrowroot tubers thoroughly, peel them, and then slice them into thin rounds or sticks. A mandoline slicer or a sharp knife will be your best allies in achieving consistent and thin slices, which are essential for that satisfying crunch.

Seasoning Options

Now, it’s time to add flavor to your chips. You can keep it simple with just a sprinkle of salt, or get creative with various seasonings like paprika, garlic powder, or even a touch of Parmesan cheese for an extra kick.

Frying or Baking

There are two popular methods for cooking arrowroot chips: frying or baking. Frying in hot oil will give you that classic crunch, while baking is a healthier alternative. If you choose to bake, arrange the slices on a baking sheet, drizzle with a bit of oil, and bake until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Cooling and Enjoying

After cooking, let the arrowroot chips cool on a paper towel to remove any excess oil. Once they’re cool to the touch, dig in and enjoy! These chips are so addictive that you might need to make a double batch.
